Info
Scorpaenopsis neglecta is a solitary, spotted and speckled scorpionfish that camouflages itself to match its surroundings, with a jagged bony crest above the eye, a dark reddish marginal stripe on the outer part of the caudal fin, and often a yellowish spot on the gill cover.
The underside of the pectoral fin has no dark spots and features a black submarginal band across the upper rays, and the axil of the pectoral fin (where it attaches to the body) has small dark spots.
Scorpaenopsis neglecta can change its color and camouflage itself to escape predators and catch prey.
Warning:
If the spines pierce a person, the venom is injected immediately; consuming the fish would also be fatal.
